Picking the right substrate for a reptile enclosure is one of those things that seems simple until you realize the wrong choice can make your animal sick. Impaction from ingested sand, respiratory issues from dusty particles, mold growing in bedding that stays too damp — all real problems I’ve run into keeping reptiles over the years.
